I walk alone
I walked slowly down the busy street, music guiding my steps-- blocking out all sound from the noisy traffic around me. My eyes wandered over all the objects in view; the trees, the cars, the gas station on the corner, the light turning the solid red when I pressed the crosswalk button. I stepped out into the street and made my way across in a complete trance-like state. I walked a block further than necessary to be able to cut through the schoolyard.
